First the hood and trunk are given definition and dimension.

Click on the image and notice in the enlarged version the artists pencil markings to assist in the carving process. 

3.

To save carving muscle, the doors are started by cutting the form with a bandsaw.

The doors are shaped further using the carving tools.

The block of wood is carefully shaped by hand and slowly begins to take the shape of the car. The process to this point may take as many as 400 hours.
