First the general car shape is cut from thick lumber.

Here you can see the base of the car and the two sides with their general cut shape. 

3.

The hood and the trunk blocks are then added. The car now has a general shape from these shaped solid wood blocks.

Creating a Block

The cut wood blocks are then glued together and clamped to create one solid block. The car is first clamped width wise and will set for 24 hours until the glue sets. The car is also clamped so the hood and trunk are solidly attached.
