I have been creating wooden toys since the late 60’s. I started as an industrial arts teacher which eventually led to a woodworking hobby. In 1976 that hobby became a profession when I started Baldwin Toys. Retired from teaching, this is now my career.
It started with the Rumbleseat model, still our best selling car. I do shows in every part of the country and in all types of venues after starting with a card table at the Omaha Summer Arts Festival. After more than 500 shows and over a million miles, I've received countless ribbons and awards for my artwork from these shows. Our toys can also be found in many top galleries across the nation. We've been featured in several national publications including Sunshine Artists, Wood Magazine and Crafts Report.
Making wooden “toys” is still a labor of love and I hope to be doing it until I drop! If you have any questions please give me a call or send me an email.

Sports and building things kept me out of trouble as an adolescent. I have always been building something, whether it was end tables, armoires, computer desks, jewelry boxes, shelves, or bird houses. Figuring out how things worked fascinated me and building them made it even more exciting!
What started out as a hobby is now my passion and way of life. There is nothing more gratifying then making something with your own hands, and having a stranger stare in absolute amazement at your piece of art. Steve is a great teacher and mentor, there is not a day that goes by I do not learn something from him. Every day we continue to push the limits of woodworking in the hopes of creating another masterpiece!
